Evacuteer.org founder Robert X. Fogarty joined Stanford Rosenthal of www.levees.org and Kayla Castille of wdsu.com to talk about how social media is changing  the way Southeastern Louisianans and especially New Orleanians are communicating during hurricane season.

Tiffany Starnes, organizer of the Social Media Club of New Orleans, puts social media in perspective simply as providing more outlets to continue or create conversations across multiple platforms.

Fogarty says that evacuteer.org will really heavily on its twitter account: @evacuteer.org as well as the City of New Orleans mass text-based system called nolaready.info. The twitter account, @evacuteer will be enabled for partner group leaders to post updates during the emergency for the world to see. nolaready.info will be used to keep in touch and communicate with all registered evacuteers.

The event was hosted at the Launchpad, a co-working space that rents desk and office space to start-ups and entrepreneurs at 643 Magazine. Find out more about the social media club of new orleans and launch pad at www.smcno.blogspot.com and launchpadnola.com
