evacuteer.org + Red Cross begin trainings

Last week, evacuteer.org had its inaugural training session at the Red Cross when 20 program leaders of City Year Louisiana participated. City Year leaders completed a four-hour class on diaster psychology, listened to specific roles they will play in the City Assisted evacuation plan and learned how to prepare Meals Ready to Eat (MREs).

To date, 105 evacuteers or evacuteer.org partnership organization leaders have been trained. Evacuteer.org’s training model is easy to understand and pass on, which allows for team leaders to host their own trainings. Well over 70 percent of evacuteer.org 253 members have or will have the capacity to receive proper training now that City Year, Rebuilding Together, Puentes and the  Broadmoor Improvement have received training.
