AmeriCorps NCCC
AmeriCorps NCCC is the premiere federal program for young Americans seeking to serve their country through sustained volunteerism. In teams of ten to twelve, NCCC corps members spend ten months traveling the nation and undertaking four to eight week long service projects in various cities. In New Orleans, AmeriCorps NCCC is an integral component to the success of many rebuilding and community organizations. At any given time in the last three years there have been as many as 200 Corps members in the Greater New Orleans region .
During Hurricane Gustav, NCCC provided 18 corps members to register evacuees at the 311 Call Center and assist the American Red Cross on site at the Union Passenger Terminal.
