City-Assisted Evacuation (CAE) Exercise

  • Central City Senior Center 2101 Philip Street New Orleans, LA, 70113 United States (map)

Volunteer to participate in this year's CAE exercise! The more people we have, the better able we are to test how well everything works prior to a real-life evacuation. We saw an incredibly busy Atlantic hurricane season last year, so we can't stress enough how important it is to be prepared and have a plan!

Every year, we partner with the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) and other agencies to conduct a drill of the City-Assisted Evacuation (CAE) plan. This is a great opportunity to refresh your knowledge of CAE, or simply better understand it through first-hand experience!

We're recruiting volunteers who will role-play as both evacuees and Evacuteers while we run through the CAE process, from the Evacuspot at the Central City Senior Center, on to the Greyhound station (Union Passenger Terminal) downtown, and then to the Louis Armstrong International Airport to simulate air evacuations. Everyone will then receive a ride back to the Central City Senior Center where we will debrief and take lunch!

You do not have to be a trained Evacuteer to participate- all are welcome to join us! You can sign up for an Evacuteer training session on site if you'd like to get more involved in the work we do to ensure the preparedness and safety of our residents throughout hurricane season!

Lunch will be provided for all who participate!
